Fitness Check In Day 19

Today was a huge win and a few more steps closer to my goal in getting my strength back and finally going to and enjoying Comic Con pain free! I started the day slow and tired as my stomach has wiped me out this week. BUT, about an hour after breakfast, I hopped on that glider for 25 minutes this time! Afterwards, I did some physical therapy arm exercises and moved on to do 30 reps each of the medium(red) and hard (green) resistance bands!!!!!!

After that I did rest a bit and worked on writing up a few recipes and then had enough energy to attempt a Trish Stratus Stratusphere Yoga workout. I did the 10 minute legs and glutes workout and this time I was able to hold the down dog pose for a full 5 count each time. I skipped crow pose again…no sense in rocking the boat and trying this one yet. I was also able to get into pigeon pose quickly with the help of my yoga blocks.

After this 10 minute workout was over, I felt I had enough left in me for another one. So I did the shoulders and calves workout and this one was tricky. I had to skip the one leg calf lift as well as a few of the calf raises, but was able to do the plank to down dog reps which was a MAJOR win for me with the shoulder impingement I’ve been working so hard in healing. I was on cloud nine after I was done and then I noticed I was hobbling to the shower with a bit of pain in my toes and feet. I was worried, but thankfully the more I moved, the more the pain subsided in time for me to go out and get some groceries which totaled to about 1 hour walking around. My feet are sore right now, understandably since I haven’t had my bare feet on the mat in a year. I’ve just been in sneakers without stretching those toes or doing much in terms of keeping them flexible.

As awesome as I felt though, I won’t be doing this often. I figure once or twice a week of yoga for a small amount of time is good enough right now and then I can graduate to a longer routine in a few more weeks or months. For now, I’m killing it and doing it the right way this time. No rushing, being mindful and kind to my body and breaking the workouts up to do a few a day at different times. If I can only muster to do a 10 or 15 minute activity on the glider, then so be it. It’s something and I’m moving.

I do however, need to incorporate more stretching, so I am going to take the time to make up a game plan of what to do and when, implementing some tips and stretches in a course I am currently taking. I will celebrate what I do whether it’s big or small because I’m trying and the road to health is a marathon, not a sprint.

Like the Phoenix, I will rise again. Let’s Celebrate those wins my little Phoenix’s!!!
