Fitness Check In Day 20

A few things were the same today. I got up and worked out on the glider. Had my usual breakfast and did another few minutes on the glider followed by some work with the resistance bands.

What was different today though was I didn’t really have the usual peppy music on. I had more mellow music playing while I worked out. The music helped me think of my dad on this Father’s Day. Next month will make it three years since he passed away, but it’s been four years since we celebrated Father’s Day with him. He was in the hospital at the time and I promised him we’d have cake when he came home to celebrate that he was our papa. Although he did come home, however, he only last a week and then passed away because his once strong body just couldn’t take all that happened in just a few weeks thanks to Urosepsis. We all know he’s in a better place. No longer suffering from Alzheimer’s, no longer in pain…but my mom, brother and I miss him.

I hope he knows I’ve been getting back up and not giving up just as he did right up until the end. My stomach was an absolute mess, but held out long enough to go to the cemetery. We brought flowers and talked to him for a while and then made the trek back home…happy to have been close to him but sad to leave him. It doesn’t matter if it’s been 1 year, 3 years or more. Days like today cut deep. Until tomorrow, hug your loved ones today and every day.
