On Monday, I was soo tired I just rested pretty much all day. Basking in the euphoria that was New York Comic Con for the 3 days that I went. Yesterday it was back to reality and work which was fine, but I was determined to keep up with moving the body more than I have in quite some time. Yesterday, I was able to walk for 10 minutes and to my surprise, I was able to get on the Glider for 15 minutes!! That is the first time I have been able to get on that machine in quite some time for that long!! When I got off the glider, I did not feel any jelly legs at all!! My legs felt stronger and my balance was just fine. I was on cloud nine being able to glide away to the playlist I chose for the day.
I did notice that as happy as I was however, the pelvic floor muscles were tight again. Not as bad as before, but as I have mentioned before, your ability to pee gets harder because that muscle is not relaxed and urine retention is not something to ignore. So as motivated as I was and still am, it’s imperative that I do the stretching exercises I learned in physical therapy, to ensure that the pelvic floor muscles don’t get any tighter and give me the same kind of trouble and pain that landed me in the hospital in June. I skipped it this time however because at the end of the night I was tired and giving into that exhaustion cost me.
Today, I woke up with dizziness and heaviness in my arms, hands and fingers, plus tightness and pain in the neck due to sleeping a full 8 1/2 hours on a pillow that while is better than the others, is not good enough to sleep on for that long. If I ever needed even more proof that the bad pillows were partly responsible my dizziness issues, this was it.
Feeling like hot garbage today was a let down, but I kept reminding myself of what my body was able to do last week. How I pushed it (maybe a bit too much) and it held up. Today will be the last day that I park my butt on the bed or couch doing work and not moving. I will be taking more breaks to get up and stretch or get on the glider for 5 minutes here and there, and will starting putting my laptop on a stack of books or boxes on my desk to stand up while doing work to give my back and butt a rest from sitting. I will also take my lunch hour to walk outside or taking a quick stroll before I start my workday at the very least 4 days out of the work week.
It’s only this way, that I will be my body back to health and get rid of the weakness and daily exhaustion that has plagued for me for soo long. Back to having the strength needed to do little things like lifting a gallon of milk without feeling the strain. Go up and down the stairs without getting winded or doing a little feng shui around the apartment.
Until tomorrow my phoenixes. Take it one day at a time and never give up!
