Today was not as hot as other days temperature wise, but the humidity made it feel sooo icky and gross that it just felt like it was 100 or so in the apartment. Despite how heavy the air was, I did manage to get in a workout. Thankfully, while I don’t have AC, I do have mini fans and larger fans, so during my workout I had 3 of them going at one point just to make sure I was able to breathe (I don’t do well in the summer heat these days.)
I did 10 minutes of the glider with no music and then decided again to do DDPY Energy 2.0 and Red Hot Core again because as Diamond Dallas Page says, “repetition is the mother of learning.” For me, it’s also an easier way for my body to get stronger by doing some of the same workouts for a while, as this method has worked for me nicely in the past and that’s how the DDPY program is set up. I was a bit sore from yesterday, but the moment I got on the mat, I felt the knots loosening, and was not only able to hold downward facing dog for a full 5 count each time the workout called for it, I was actually able to get deeper and hold the modified standing split longer! For Red Hot Core, however, my legs were not as strong and they felt a lot more heavy during one set of crunches so wasn’t able to complete the entire count of 20 and just went into bridge pose for the remainder of that set. No worries I will get back to that point eventually. Of this, I am 100 percent certain!
Another NSV (non scale victory)? After the workout and cold cold shower, I had to get some groceries and even though my right shoulder still cannot hold much, both my hands were able to carry the groceries I had purchased!! It wasn’t much. Maybe 10 pounds of groceries at the most, but for me this was big! I have not been able to carry anything for any amount of blocks since last year unless I brought the shopping cart with me!!!
After all of this today, my back, neck and shoulders are tired and in a bit of pain due to the subluxation, but today I can deal with the discomfort. I almost have enough for a few sessions with my chiropractor since insurance doesn’t cover it, but these few sessions I know will help immensely so I’m not too worried :)
Mentally today, as I mentioned yesterday in the motivational video, I’m Good. You never know what each day will bring you!
Until tomorrow my Phoenixes, have a great night and remember, you got this!
