Fitness Progress Check-In Day 4

After tossing and turning all night, I started my day at 5:45am because why bother waiting till 630…I can’t sleep anyway. My neck, feels super subluxated, my back, legs, glutes have a dull aching pain and my stomach feels like an elephant is sitting on my intestines.

After my morning ritual, brush teeth, wash face, flatten my weak glutes on the toilet for a bit etc…I looked in the mirror and that old familiar icky feeling came over me. Man do I look like a dirty Dorito today…a rancid radish to put it nicely. The words I said to myself got worse and I shuffled back to bed, looking at my air walker trainer and thinking. “Why the flying finelli should I bother!”

The pain was getting to me. I’m also dealing with an irritated bladder which happens when you have an irritable bowel sometimes. Lovely and attractive isn’t it? Before I was able to handle all this with acupuncture but I simply cannot afford weekly or bi-weekly sessions or even chiropractors sessions which help immensely in all back and neck problems I have.

So, I closed my eyes and then started to cry. The negative word mixed around in my brain and then I heard that inner voice. That voice of fire and desire to live a better life came alive again. “NO YLIA, STOP THIS SH*T. You’ve put in a lot work to get to this point mentally and have been on a good 15 day exercise streak, don’t p*ss it all away.”

Sounds like a dramatic inner dialogue right? No really. You see if I give in today, my body and mind will feel it. I will sink into that hole that I have kept falling into and clawing my way out of time and time again and I refuse to let this be theme of this chapter in my life.

“Fall down seven time and stand up eight” A beautiful Japanese proverb I love but tend to forget. So I got up. I put the right sneakers on this time and got on my air walker trainer. The pain in my legs, back and arms started to melt away the more I moved. A different peppy playlist got me to up to 15 minutes today.

Then I gave in to what my body has been craving for a while now. A brief yoga session. I did DDPY Bed Flex III and my the twists in this routine gave me a little bit of what my body needed. It felt like the cobwebs were being shaken off from bridge pose to the deep twist that stretched my hip flexors.

Despite the positively delicious feeling the twists had on my joint and muscles in my lower body, the discomfort came when I had to do diamond cutter, speed bag and touchdown. My right arm is definitely not quite there yet. The pain from the impingement is unquestionably there, and my left arm is like a soggy noodle, but I was able to do everything else which was big win and I’ll take it.

TODAY’S PLAYLIST
