Fitness Check In: Day 30

Today I knew that I wanted to hit the mat and the air walk trainer, so after my quick morning routine (brush teeth, wash face), I did a few quick stretching exercises in bed to wake up those muscles.

Then, I got on that glider for 25 glorious minutes with some music from the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s. A few songs on there reminded me of my days at Iona College (now called Iona University) that I listened to and played when I was a DJ at WICR. I was in heaven reminiscing of those carefree days where I was filled with happiness and hope. Living in the present and excited for the future. Those were some of the best days of my life and I remember them fondly. Thinking about those days made it very easy to finish the 25 with little exhaustion in my legs. I then did 20 pullbacks with the resistance bands and done! My calves were less stiff, my arms felt good and my face had a smile on it from the happy high that working out you. CUE those endorphins!

Fast forward to before dinner and my eyes were set on getting on that mat again, especially since my back has been killing me. So after I was supposed to be off the clock for work, I did the yoga session from the Mayo Clinic Solutions for Back Pain DVD again and it felt soooo amazing on my stiff joints. A nice cool shower with an amazing soap that for me is like aromatherapy it smells soo good, I got my appetite going and then finished up some more work, and the happy high was still strong!

All in all a huge win for me today. AGAIN! I have done more in the past month for my body slowly, without injury, than I have been able to do in a over a year. I remind myself of this frequently, as it gets me excited of all progress that’s to come in the next few days, weeks and months and ensures I don’t get overly eager and take on too much.

Day 30 in the books. Until tomorrow. Carpe Diem my Phoenixes!
