Fitness Check In Day 52: Overcoming Your Fears

Today was a bit rough. The other pillow I used isn’t great, but the pain in my neck although still there, was a lot less than yesterday. I did wake up a bit exhausted with dizziness and and pain in my legs, but I was determined to get on that glider at least for a bit. A few hours into work and a banana later for energy, I took my lunch break and got on that glider. To my surprise, I last 11 minutes!!!! I did feel I could go more, but I really didn’t want to overdo it so I stopped there. Today my legs while they were in pain, did not feel like jello!! I was pretty happy with myself and was tempted to go for a walk without my cane but decided I should probably do more work while resting my legs and maybe after work I would step outside.

Well 5:30pm came quickly and the fear started to set in. I was very nervous and anxious to step outside without that cane, figuring I really wouldn’t get very far and picturing my legs giving out. However, I thought of Comic Con next week and that desire to go took over and I left my cane behind and went outside. I took it slow and then started to pick up the pace a little bit which was surprising but exciting! I was really walking without any assistance!!! I had my mom and brother walking alongside me but I am happy to say I did not need any help this time around!!! I walked to the supermarket 5 blocks away to get a few items on sale and came back for a total of 10 blocks again!!! I came back home and instead of crashing on the bed from exhaustion, I was able to tolerate the pain and cooked!

Honestly, this is a monster difference from a few weeks ago where the dizziness was 24/7 and the legs were like jello every single day. Even last week was super rough, but I’ve been doing my best to be patient with myself, not overdoing anything and resting when possible. Just one more week till Comic Con and slowly but surely I am getting there!

Until tomorrow my phoenixes!!! Face your fears, be patient with yourself, keep going and Never Give Up!!!
