Although today has been a rough day physically and mentally, I am ending my day with some positives that happened over the past few days.
Firstly I did have my colonoscopy on Friday which let me tell you was rough. The prep sucked and the hunger pangs since my appointment was in the afternoon were horrible. However, the colonoscopy itself went well, and compared to my previous colonoscopies, I had very minimal discomfort and started eating solid foods yesterday. My gastroenterologist says there is intestinal inflammation and she will notify me when the results of the biopsies of tissue samples come in.
I was tired on Friday but didn’t get much rest. I did rest on Saturday though and on Sunday NYC was hit with about 12 inches of snow and I had the energy and desire to venture out into the cold and treat my eyes to beautifully white covered trees, streets and park.

It was hard trekking through the snow as my feet are used to sneakers and I was using the only boots I had which are not snow boots but the soles have a great grip so there was no danger of slipping. Maneuvering around uneven ground was a bit rough on my body, but I took it slow and was very careful.
Was it all worth a bit of soreness? You BETCHA!!!! I felt soo alive!!! I have always loved the cold weather and as far as the snow? Well, watching the snow fall and seeing the ground covered made me feel like a kid again! Below are some videos I took and as you can hear, I am out of breath because as I mentioned, lifting my legs and trudging through that snow was hard for me and by the end I had to give myself a little pep talk to get back up the hill so I could go home. However, I had the energy, and I proved to myself that I am getting stronger day by day! Every day of activity is another day closer to reversing the effects of deconditioning on my body and build muscle so I can go back to doing the exercises I enjoyed soo much (DDPY, Vinyasa Yoga, body slide.) With all that’s been going on in life, it’s these moments that make you realize how important having fun or unwinding can be for you body and soul.
With all that’s been going on in life, it’s these moments that make you realize how important having fun or unwinding can be for you body and soul. It reminded me of a quote I saw recently that I added to the last picture of snow I added to the end of this video. “If you overthink the worst, why can’t you overthink the best?” Positive thinking it important, daydreaming of good things like making a snow angel or attempting to cook a new dish and visualizing it coming out PERFECT for example can really help distract you from what’s going on in your life. (health, financial issues..etc…)
Until next time my Phoenixes! Get outside if you can, be safe, be kind to yourself and others and KEEP GOING! You got this!
