After a rough few days where my mood dipped down to the dark pits I have worked soo hard to climb out of again, I was determined to pull myself out of it yesterday. I knew that I’d face another hurdle with the drastic change in weather from the arctic below zero temps to the now 65 to 74 degree weather we have had the past few days which is a reminder that spring and summer are right around the corner. These are two seasons I have loathed since my stomach issues got worse. My body just couldn’t handle the warmer temps and now with the hot flashes associated with perimenopause it’s been even more of a challenge.
Sooo yesterday I got back on the Stamina InMotion Compact Elliptical that I purchased in 2023 that I only used for a small period of time before all the injuries started. It honestly felt AMAZING!! I was moving to the beats of Harry Styles, DNCE and Empire of the Sun. Three songs, 10 minutes and a lot of smiles and fist pumps in the air by me as if I was Jurgen Klopp after Liverpool wins a game! It has just been soo long and with the pelvic floor issues I could only look longingly at my precious elliptical. It was an awesome achievement!
Today, I wanted to continue to change the script in my story this year. Today I forced myself to get up and go out for my mile walk before work and it made me feel surprisingly euphoric! I say surprisingly because the warmer weather triggers SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder.) But today I didn’t feel any gloomy, icky waves of disappointment at all. It was sunny, the air was clear and the wind was cool 65 degrees. It was the perfect time to walk those 20ish blocks. I have to admit, it was a nice change to just put on a light jacket, light cap and go out instead of layering up. The birds chirping were music to my ears. The smells of coffee and breakfast emanating from the cafes and deli’s were invigorating because while I can’t have coffee and it makes me sad, I do enjoy the smell and it does perk me up a bit.
Afterward I came home to work and after work, I had enough energy to get my documents together and start my 4 separate appeals to the insurance agency for the endoscopy and colonoscopy. It took me about 1 hour but I did it so fingers crossed, I get a different outcome this time.
After dinner, I figured I had a little bit of energy left and hopped on the elliptical and did a nice and easy 10 minutes with tunes from the 80’s. All in all a very very productive and positive day!! A far cry from the previous days and I’m grateful. Until next time my Phoenixes! Take advantage of the days you feel good to tackle whatever is it you have pending or whatever you desire to try or start! Be kind to yourself and others and remember you’ve got this!!
