Today I fully intended to continue my DDPY exercise but the day did not go as planned. I woke up early because I had an appointment to get a new passport during my lunch hour so I wanted to get an early start before work so I could meditate again (I started TM again yesterday after a long hiatus) and then do DDPY Bedflex III, but my stomach had other plans. Looks like the shady shrimp and ham are still wreaking havoc on my stomach which has felt like I’ve had boiling water in there since Friday evening. For the first time in months, I had to take pepto so I could make it to my appointment. Since I am still trying to protect that left foot with the plantar fascia issues, I was at the bus stop at the top of the hour to ensure I was there 15 minutes prior to my appointment to get my passport. Little did I know that they were filming something a few blocks down so the busses were not only rerouted, the last stop was about 10 blocks away from where I needed to go! Now I was really cutting it close so I got off and walked as carefully but as swiftly as I possibly could to the train and missed it by 1 minute so I had to go back upstairs and walk to my appointment. Fortunately I was there right on time and was done quickly so I could get back home and eat before getting back to work.
Problem? I missed the bus coming back and then all the buses coming were ‘not in service’ and due to the filming the buses that went by seems to be running past a certain point so I had to walk 16 blocks home. Normally I would be excited but I really am trying to be careful with that foot so I don’t do any damage that would require medical attention or heaven forbid surgery. So I walked slowly and with great care until I got back home in time to pour a bowl of cereal and plop down at my desk to work which I try not to do. I prefer eating and listening to music or watching a video instead of working and eating, but alas you do what you have to.
Despite all of this I was proud that not only did I make it to my appointment, but I was able to walk without injuring anything and got 2.5 miles in today. Even now with the deflating emails coming in from United Healthcare denying my second appeal for the endoscopy and colonoscopy, I choose to focus on the good things that happened earlier in my day despite some unforeseen issues. I refuse to let this second denial bring me down. I will do some more research, call my doctor and the center I had this done and appeal again. $40,000 is really an exorbitant amount with over $10,000 being charged from each anesthesiologist but like I said, I will keep fighting this and to see if I can get other tests covered that are needed in order for me to find out what is causing the high levels of calprotectin and intestinal inflammation aside from other issues in my throat.
For right now, however, I am celebrating my wins for today. I did good and my body and feet held up and that is a blessing! When you have a craptastic day, do your best to find the good, even if it’s small. It can really help you deal with the rubbish thrown at you from time to time.
Until next time my Phoenixes!!! Be kind and patient with yourself, keep going and keep fighting! You are worth it and you’ve got this!!!
