Fitness Check In Day 106: NYC Comic Con

I took a whole week off to prepare for Comic Con. But that week I will admit was really rough. I had a lot of stomach pain, fullness and nausea I was trying to get rid of. I was worried that my low calorie intake would render me weak, dizzy and unable to do much walking let alone cosplay. I then figured out what protein bars I could eat and made a plan of the little things I would eat prior to going to carry me through the day.

I was then worried that my back and arms wouldn’t be able to hold the bookbag I needed to carry. I was also worried my stomach may not let me enjoy myself. A day or two prior to Comic Con, my brother had me listen to a 10 minute youtube video of singing bowls which relaxed me and enabled me to eat calmly as well as ease the fullness and pain I was feeling in the upper mid part of my stomach. He also suggested I listen to a youtube video guiding you to repeat affirmations about the cells in your body. For some I know this sounds like a lot of malarkey as Sheldon Cooper would say, but there is something to all of this. All these things put your mind in a state of relaxation. It eases the worry you and stress you are already feeling which helps you tolerate the pain you are experiencing. All of this is something I am still researching and will post in the future in regard to sound healing, positive affirmations etc…

Because of my willingness to slow down and meditate, slow down and listen to those videos, I was a lot more calm, positve and excited and counting down the hours and minutes. Although I do enjoy myself every year, this year was even more rewarding than last year. Part of it was because I took part in the wrestling cosplay meetup again, but a major part of it was all the work I put in to get there. That first day of Comic Con I had done 23 consecutive days of DDPYoga. 23 days that made me stronger and more confident to explore the show floor, sit on the floor and get up without assistance…cosplay and stand for hours at a time and enjoy what I always say is my once a year vacation from life. The dizziness I had been feeling was gone and while I burned more calories than what I ate, I am grateful I was able to keep going for 4 days. Sure I didn’t get there at 10a or 11am like others, but I made it. I enjoyed the hours I was there and that is something I am always going to remember with a big ol smile on my face.

I did my makeup and got dressed up as WWE wrestler Asuka on Friday just like I had envisioned. I was able to check off one thing on my list. Remove the picture of one of my goals from my vision board. I even had the energy to go in costume again on Saturday…this time I dressed up in a very uncomfortable but fun A League of Their Own costume.

I still have a lot to go to get my strength back, I still have my stomach issues to worry about but for those 4 days, I simply enjoyed myself to the fullest. Below are a few pictures from the happiest place on earth!!!

Until next time my Phoenixes, things have not been easy at all….I keep fighting and refuse to throw in the towel. I encourage you to do the same if you are going through something. You are soo important in this world and you owe it to yourself to keep going. You can do this!!!
