Fitness Check In Day 103: Pain, DDPYoga and Determination

The whole of last week I did DDPY, pushing myself to do Stand Strong II then Stand Strong III, aside from getting my steps in to complete part of the checklist for the DDPYoga Beast Mode program, going to my doctor’s appt and getting some errands done during my lunch hour. Considering weeks ago I could barely get up the stairs again and was having trouble with lifting my laptop, this was a huge win for me! This weekend was filled with both rest and a lot of activity, pain and exhaustion. This all led to my body saying on Saturday….NOPE I don’t want to do anything today. Disappointing, yet I know I have to listen to my body or risk getting injured. So I just did Stand Strong I, had my breakfast, showered and basically stayed in bed for most of the day. There are a lot of things I wanted to do, but my body wasn’t having any of it so I just made my peace with that, especially since Sunday was going to be busy for me.

On Sunday morning, I did Stand Strong II which put me in a good mood. And even though my stomach was super off, I took Pepto and was off to see my former coworkers//friends at Escapology to do the Scooby Doo and the Spooky Castle Escape the Room Adventure . I wasn’t sure I would be able to do this at first, because of my stomach, but I truly made the effort and had an awesome time. It was a lot of bending and moving in the alotted 60 minutes which I did feel in my intestines, but it was worth it. I got to see my friends and enjoy solving a Scooby Doo mystery to escape the room!!

Afterwards they went to eat and I opted out. I was wiped out frankly and famished so I went home to eat a little something and relax for an hour so I could go back out to the sound healing class. Mind you it was raining cats and dogs all day yesterday in NYC, and I still managed to find the energy to go out in this weather…twice! This is what is called a non scale victory or NSV…a term they use in DDPYoga a lot.  I have really come a long way in only 13days of doing DDPYoga consecutively and going to the sound healing once!

The vibrations of the singing bowls relaxed my muscles and melted away the stress I had been holding on for soo long with all these health issues that have come about. Feeling the sudden energy, I ran with it and dove back into doing the Beast Mode program after missing a few days and doing those Stand Strong workouts with the renewed hope I’d finish the 90 days stronger than when I started.

Today I felt great when I woke up, but my stomach had other plans which depleted my energy. I started doing Stand Strong IV and 2 minutes in, I cancelled the workout and decided Bedflex was a wiser decision. I will say the Cannonball pose really messed with my stomach but I completed the workout so I feel good about myself. I also got 2000 steps in today, logged my food intake and joined the virtual group check in after work, so I can pat myself on the back for not quitting. I’m also glad I didn’t retreat into my turtle shell which is something I tend to do when I feel like garbage. I heard the stories from the coaches and other participants of this program and it was comforting and inspiring. It’s a fantastic and supportive group and I am ever soo grateful I joined this 90 day program.

I know I still have tough days ahead of me. My perimenopause is giving me hell, my stomach/intestines are following suit aside from my other health issues, but I will figure this out. I am going to reach out again to my doctor and insurance tomorrow and every day until I get that CT Scan approved and ask for other tests to see if it’s my gallbladder that’s the issue (after my podiatrist suggested it)

That’s the update for today. Until next time my Phoenixes. Keep focused on your goals, fight for your health and be kind to yourself! You’ve got this!!!
